Object control Lesson 3: Throwing for accuracy Pt 2
Learning outcomes
- I will develop my underarm throw technique
- I will start to explore the idea of attackers and defenders
What you need
- Empty plastic bottles
- 7 pairs of socks
Activity 1 - Angry birds
- Place your bottles on a bench or wall to create angry bird targets
- If working in pairs, each player are to take turns, for a total of 4 throws
- Every time a bottle is knocked down, they score one point and the bottle is to be placed back up
- Once ab ottle is struck, that player can't hit it again during the same turn
- Who can scored the most points?
Progression:
- Move further away
- Move the bottles further away fro meach other
- Use smaller targets
Activity 2 - Protect the birds
- One player is to stand between the thrower and the targets as the defender
- The thrower has 4 attempts to try and knock down as many bottles as possible
- Once a bottle has been knocked down, it stays down
- After 4 attempts, swap roles
Progression:
- Move further away
- Move the bottles further away fro meach other
- Use smaller targets
Activity 3 - Protect the nest
- Use socks to mark a playing square
- Place the bottles on the floor inside the square
- The defender must stay inside the square and protect the nest
- The attacker must stay outside the square and their aim is to roll/throw their socks to knock down the bottles
- Play for two minutes, every bottle down = 1 point to the attacker
- Bottles must stay down when knocked down
Progression:
- Adapt the size of the playing area
- Adapt the size of the targets
- Adjust the time limit
